2021/2022 Fully Funded Standard Bank Africa Chairman’s Scholarship in the United Kingdom
The Standard Bank Africa Chairman’s Scholarship is available to graduate students who are and will ordinarily remain resident in one of the African countries in which Standard Bank is present. Prospective candidates must demonstrate an exceptional academic track record and will need to have successfully qualified on their own merit in their application for a one-year Master’s programme at either of the following partner university institutions: Oxford, Cambridge and London School of Economics and Political Science. All candidates are to apply directly the abovementioned universities.
A preference will be given to students commencing a course of study in one of the following programmes:

Benefits
The scholarships will provide the tuition and college fee in full, and a maintenance grant (i.e. living costs incurred in the college such as rental of college accommodation, food taken in college, etc.) commensurate to the national minimum doctoral stipend of the UK Research Councils.
Selection Process
The scholarships will be awarded annually, and the selection process will be managed through the University application process.
Method of Application:
Please be advised that you will be required to apply for your programme of choice as well as funding. Application dates vary for each institution. Please therefore refer to your University of choice for application dates.

Note: If applying for Cambridge, it is important that you list Magdalene College as your first preference in order to be considered for the Scholarship. Students will be required to complete The Standard Bank Africa Chairman’s Scholarship application form which can be obtained through the Graduate Tutor’s assistant via lacp1@cam.ac.uk

Select, maintain and manage all resources and stock within the library facilities.- Guide and assist staff to make the best use of the library services and facilities.
- Liaise with staff to develop a stock selection policy that ensures the provision of relevant resources to cover various units and departments.
- Participate in the planning and development of programmes for information handling skills and literacy within the organisation.
- Develop and deliver induction training and other training programmes for new and existing users of the library services and facilities.
- Assist with archiving and displaying information and materials.
- Ensure that staff are familiar with the use of enquiry and circulation features of the library management systems.
- Arrange library resources and materials in a way that promotes effective retrieval, including the systematic indexing, classification and cataloguing of all library resources and materials. Disseminate information relating to resources to staff as appropriate.
- Carry out the routine procedures associated with the ordering, receipt and distribution of medical materials and Psychological tools.
- Prepare materials and collections for use, distribution or disposal.
- Carry out routine procedures associated with the request system and inter-library loans.
- Set up and reorganise library facilities as required, including moving and reorganising stock, materials and resources.
- Design and implement library technologies (library management system, subject/research guide system, electronic resources management) to enhance library services.
Skills / Qualifications
- Minimum of a Second-Class Honors Degree in Library Science. A Masters’ degree will be an advantage.
- Possession of NYSC Certificate/ Discharge Certificate.
- Minimum of two - four years’ work experience minimum.
- Must possess high level of professionalism.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Must possess excellent IT Skills.
