university of Ilorin ( UNILORIN) Admission screening dates and procedure 2011/ 2012


The University of Ilorin invites Candidates who have applied for admission into the Undergraduate degree programmes of the University for the 2011/2012 academic session to upload the required information for the Screening Exercise between Monday 18th July, 2011 and Saturday, 6th August 2011.
Any awaiting results must be uploaded on or before Monday 15th August, 2011 when the Portal shall be closed. The
Pre-admission Screening Exercise will commence on the 8th August, 2011 at Ilorin, Lagos and Minna centres .
The following categories of candidates are eligible:
A. UTME candidates who made the University of Ilorin their first and/or second
choice and scored:
(i) a minimum of 200 marks in the UTME for courses other than those listed in (ii) and (iii) below, and five (5) ‘O’ level Credits in relevant subjects at not more than two sittings.
(ii) a score of 220 marks in UTME for Accounting, Biochemistry,
and Veterinary Medicine and five (5) ‘O’ level Credits in relevant subjects at not more than two sittings.
iii) MB;BS candidates who obtained:
(a) a score of 240 marks in the UTME and
(b) Credit Passes at one sitting only in the Senior Secondary School
Certificate Examination or its equivalence in each of the following
subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
B. DIRECT ENTRY candidates who made the University of Ilorin their first and/or second choice and have obtained a minimum of:
(i) Upper Credit at OND/HND/Diploma (except for Statistics, Agriculture,
Performing Arts and History, where Lower Credit may be considered).
Also, note that the Department of Business Administration will not accept National Diploma in Business Administration or Diploma in Marketing.
(ii) Merit in NCE; and
(iii) A minimum of two (2) Advanced level passes in two relevant subjects.
(iv) MB;BS candidates must have obtained a minimum of:
(a) 13 points in IJMB or GCE Advanced Level Examination in the relevant subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Biology or
(b) Second Class (Upper Division) Honours Degree in Zoology,
Microbiology, Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry or any other relevant courses in the Basic Sciences.
All candidates must strictly disclose the choice of courses they applied for originally with JAMB as well as any proposed change of course. Candidates seeking change of course will be required to pay change of course fee after admission. Withholding of information or wrong information will lead to instant disqualification.
C. Foreign candidates who have not taken part in the UTME or filled Direct
Entry form can reach the University Admissions Officer at
admissionsofficer@unilorin.edu.ng for information on admission into the University.
Foreign candidates will not be required to make any payment at this stage.
D. Specific Instructions for Screening:
University of Ilorin charges N1,000.00 only for the Screening Exercise.
Procure the virtual card (i.e. Confirmation order number and Receipt number) for the payment from any of the following banks:

Qualification and Experience for Academic Staff.
Professor: PhD degree with at least 10 years post-qualification experience in University
teaching and research in the relevant fields. Candidates must have good record of scholarly
publications along with evidence of considerable teaching and research, demonstrable capacity
for academic leadership as well as proficiency in ICT. Candidates are expected to be registered with various recognized professional bodies, as applicable.


Associate Professor: PhD degree with at least 8 years post-qualification experience in
University teaching and experience in relevant fields. Other conditions are as for Professor.
Senior Lecturer: PhD degree with at least 5 years post-qualification cognate experience
buttressed with a suitable number of publications and ICT proficiency.
Lecturer I: PhD degree with at least 3 years teaching and research experience along with a
suitable number of publications and ICT proficiency.
Lecturer II: Fresh PhD graduate in relevant field or in exceptional cases, candidates with good
Master’s degree, who have advanced in their doctoral programmes. Evidence of research

Qualification and Experience for Non-Teaching Staff.
1. Director of Works and Physical Planning: Director of Works shall be responsible to the
Vice-Chancellor for the day to day administration of the Works and Physical Planning
directorate. The appointee should exhibit considerable ability to control and coordinate
operations of engineering, technical and professional nature in the university estate.
Applicant must possess a good honours degree in the field of Engineering or
Architecture from a recognized university. Membership of the professional regulatory
body (COREN, ARCON, NIA) is required. In addition, the Candidate must have at least
fifteen (15) years cognate post-qualification working experience most of which
preferably should be in services related to a university works/physical planning
department.
2. Secretary
A good first degree or HND in Secretarial Studies with minimum of 3 years working
experience and ICT proficiency. Membership of relevant professional body or an MBA
will be an added advantage.
3. Senior Assistant Registrar
Candidates must possess good honors degree (minimum of second class lower division)
in a Social/ Management Science or Humanities field of study from a recognized
