Duties
- Establishing and operating cost and financial control systems suitable for works in Nigeria which includes breaking down rates into labour, plant, materials and fuel.
- Analyzing all options and Value engineering to ensure budgets are maintained.
- Working closely and effectively with all other disciplines in particular the site management teams to ensure costs are fully controlled and values enhanced.
- IT literate in Excel, Word etc
- Procurement of materials
- Experience in working closely with design teams in particular Client QS.
- Re-measures of main building to compare to the BQ and highlight and issues
- Knowledge of alternative methods of construction and value engineering experience to ensure budgets are achieved.
- Knowledge of subcontractors and suppliers capable of carrying out the works
- Sound knowledge of local rates for the various materials and labour elements of work
- Preparation of enquiry documents for subcontractors (including remeasured elements prior to going to tender)
- Creating and/ or maintaining a log of variations on an ongoing basis with detailed back up to be discussed at weekly meetings.
- Daily/ weekly measures on site to ensure that the works are being progressed within budget And the contractors are achieving their labour constants/ outputs.
- Daily / weekly measures on site to cross check with the quantities in the “Bill Of Quantities” and or items not measured in the “Bill of Quantities”
- Preparation of interim valuations as required including up to date variations etc.
- The preparation and valuation of progress and final payments in connection with sub-contractors
- Ordering of materials including tracking and co-ordination of deliveries in liaison with site management team and progress of works. Maintaining accurate records of all delivery dockets.
- Liase with site engineer when materials are delivered to site to ensure quantities and quality is correct.
- Checking delivery quantities against Bill of Quantity totals on a daily basis to highlight any Issues with wastage or incorrect quantities in the BQ.
- Experience in dealing with subcontractors and client design team alike
- Awareness/ experience of General Site Management, co-ordination of materials and labour.
- Maintaining daily QS allocation sheets to use for assessing variations and checking on progress and costs.
- Attending in-house site Meeting to report on weekly progress on site with respect to budget and QS issues
Qualification
- Candidate should have a Bachelors Degree in Quantity Surveying.
- Possession of a Masters Degree in Quantity Survey is an added advantage.
- Candidate must have about 15 years working experience as a Quantity Surveyor.
- Proficiency in the use of AutoCAD is very important.
- Candidate must have experience in Procurement, Field work and Estimation.
